WestJet Airline

WestJet Airline is mostly based in Canada and started as a low-cost air carrier. It does, however, operate scheduled and chartered flights to 91 destinations in Canada, Europe, Mexico, and the United States.

It was established in 1996 and is now the second largest airline service in the world, behind only Air Canada. It currently operates approximately 425 flights a day, carrying a total of 45000 passengers! In 2013, it carried 18.5 million travelers, making it the ninth largest airline service in North America.

Fleet:

WestJet currently operates 126 planes. The main fleet consists of Boeing 737s, with a significant proportion of them being Boeing 737-300s. WestJet announced in July 2014 that they were in the process of buying wide-body aircraft, and after rigorous trials, they selected the Boeing 767-300ER. The first two aircraft will be added to the fleet by the end of February 2015.

Travel Class:

Economy class: The economy class on WestJet varies depending on the aircraft type. WestJet's 787's economy seats have a 31-inch pitch "and can be used in a 3-3-3 configuration. When flying internationally, free hot meals and non-alcoholic beverages are offered, and economy seats on WestJet's 767 have a 31-inch pitch "and are available in a 2-3-2 configuration.

Premium: There is a separate, dedicated cabin for Premium passengers. Larger seats with more recline are available in the 787 in a 2-3-2 configuration, the 767 in a 2-2-2 configuration, the 737Max in a 2-2 configuration, and WestJet's 737-600, -700, and -800 in a 3-3 configuration.

Business: WestJet Airlines' 787 aircraft offer Business class, which has individual pods and easy aisle access. Business Class on WestJet's aircraft uses electric flat beds in a 1-2-1 configuration.

Baggage Allowance

Each traveler is permitted to bring one carry-on bag, such as a purse or briefcase that fits easily in the overhead bin or beneath the seat in front of you. This type of luggage cannot weigh more than 22 pounds. To check in one bag, each commuter will be paid $25. The maximum weight for such a bag is 50 pounds. A bag weighing 50 to 100 pounds will be permitted on the flight, but the passenger will be paid a fee for the additional weight. Cases weighing more than 100 pounds will no longer be accepted as check-in bags and will be delivered as luggage instead.

Check-In Information

Passengers on WestJet can sign in using one of three options: online, by phone, or in person. This is the most common form of customer check-in. They can sign in at airport counters or airline offices. WestJet Air has developed a smartphone app that allows travelers to sign in when on the move.
